FRESHERS FAQS

WHAT ARE UNIVERSITY FRESHERS?

The term “freshers” refers to the period at the start of the first year of university.

WHEN IS FRESHERS WEEK?

This depends on where you’re studying. Most universities will host freshers in September, but some kick off their welcome week in October. You can find a full list of freshers events on our events page!

WHAT IS FRESHERS WEEK?

Freshers week, also known as "Welcome Week", sees thousands of students from around the world descend upon a new city as they move to university for the first time. Every university hosts a huge range of society meetups, freshers fairs, bar crawls and student club nights during freshers - giving everyone the chance to join university groups and meet new people.

WHAT HAPPENS IF FRESHERS EVENTS DON'T TAKE PLACE DUE TO COVID-19?

We understand this is a crazy time! Rest assured we would like you to have peace of mind when you purchase your wristband/tickets from us. In the case that freshers' events do not take place due to nightclubs/bars still remaining closed, you will receive a FULL refund to any ticket or wristband you have purchased.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ON ARRIVAL?

While there may be a number of welcome talks and taster sessions scheduled, the most important task all students must complete is registration & enrollment. This is usually split into two parts - online registration, which can be completed from home before you move, and collection of your ID card from campus. Don’t worry, you’ll be sent all the relevant documents in advance by your university. In addition to this, make time to familiarise yourself with the campus and accommodation while you’re free from the responsibility of lectures - wise up on where your library, lecture building and student’s union are, as well as your local food shops, mall and laundrette (if your accommodation does not provide washing facilities).
